Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your use of Nodex, a personal AI assistant that controls your own computer(s) and connected devices on your instruction. By installing or using Nodex you agree to them.
1. Who Nodex is for
Nodex is designed for genuine enthusiasts, system administrators and capable power/home users — people with the authority and responsibility to operate their own systems. It is a single‑operator tool tied to the owner of the devices and accounts it runs on. It is not intended or licensed for multi‑user, shared, managed‑service or end‑user‑fleet deployment. You are the responsible operator for everything it does.
2. AI usage and costs
Nodex uses an AI provider you configure (e.g. Anthropic) to understand your requests. AI usage is billed to your provider account per use, and you are responsible for all charges. AI output can be wrong — do not rely on it for important, irreversible or safety‑related decisions without checking.
3. Control of your devices & your responsibility
Nodex can control your computer and connected devices on your instruction — including running programs, typing and clicking, taking screenshots, reading network details, and triggering physical or connected devices (for example, opening a garage). You are responsible for what you instruct it to do, including anything irreversible or physical. Review actions before you confirm them.
4. Connecting additional PCs (Sentries)
You may connect additional PCs that you own or administer as Sentries (headless executors), and act on one or several of them at once (individually or by group). You are the responsible operator for every device you connect, and all of these terms apply to each of them.
5. How connections work & keeping them secure
The phone‑to‑PC connection is always encrypted (HTTPS). It reaches your PC either:
- LAN‑direct — straight over your local network, validated by a private certificate Nodex builds into the app; or
- relay fallback — over the Nodex relay (a forwarding‑only service) when you are away.
The certificate authority runs on your own PC and its private key never leaves it, so no third party can issue certificates for your devices. Your PC’s local‑network listener accepts connections only on your LAN and is gated by your access token; it is never port‑forwarded to the Internet. Keep Nodex on a trusted private network. Your access token and pairing QR are your credentials — keep them private and do not share them.
6. Acceptable use
- Use Nodex ethically and lawfully, and only on devices you own or are authorised to control.
- Nodex must not be used to circumvent system, device or account security — and it has no ability to do so. It works within the operating system’s normal permission model, as the user/account you grant it; it does not root, jailbreak, disable or bypass any protection. Your devices’ baseline security (lock screens, OS permissions, encryption, account controls) remains fully in place.
- Nodex is not to be used as spyware. Do not use it to covertly monitor, record, track or exfiltrate data from any person or device without their clear knowledge and consent. Monitoring (including health‑monitor / Sentry modes) is permitted only on devices you own or manage with the owner’s authorisation, and people using those devices must be informed where the law requires it. Covert surveillance of individuals is prohibited and may be illegal.
7. Warranty & liability
Nodex is provided “as is”, without warranty except as required by law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Smartvibes and the authors are not liable for any damage, loss or cost arising from your use or misuse of Nodex, including any action it performs on your instruction.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the courts of that jurisdiction.
